- a female Amurian Leopard Cat born in February of 1990. She arrived on 9/29/95 from an animal broker who had acquired her from a zoo where her mate had died. Because the Leopard Cats are so hard to breed and not great crowd pleasers, most zoos have given up on them.
The Amurian Leopard Cat is the same size as a large domestic cat. It lives in the woodland, forest,
and scrub (up to 10,000 feet) of eastern and southeastern Asia. It is known as the Leopard Cat
because its yellowish, spotted coat is similar to that of the Leopard. The Leopard Cat's head and
body length can be up to three feet, six inches, tail length up to one foot, five inches, and weight up
to 15 pounds. It does most of its hunting at dawn, dusk, and during the night. Its diet consists of
hare, rodents, young deer, birds, bat, reptiles, and fish. After a gestation period of 66 days, the
female produces three to four offspring.
