About club "Diamond of Truth"

Advertising is not necessary for them. Almost everyone in our city saw their outstanding performances with wood boards and bricks breaking. Someone envies force and skills of these guys, someone shrugs shoulders being in bewilderness - what for? Someone would like to have such a friend and the defender, and someone does not want to spoil the relations with them. But the few can guess that behind mastering by fighting arts there is a big educational, spiritual work, work on self. Trainer Vladimir Grigorievich SITNIK tells us about sports club «Diamond of Truth».
- Recently you have arrived from the international karate tournament, tell me about the trip more
detailed.
- At the end of April 2002 we received the invitation to take part in the international karate and
kobudo tournament "Naha - te" group "A". Tournament took place in the "city the hero" Odessa and was
devoted to Victory Day celebration. Younger guys have left for Odessa earlier, me and several
grown-ups have gone to Moscow first. In the capital we have visited the Trinity-Sergiy cathedral
during Easter celebrating. We had visited sacred places, including Troitsky cathedral where
Sergiy Radonezhskiy's ashes are laid. We had been blessed by holy father and have gone to Odessa.
There were more than 600 persons from nine countries who have arrived to take part in the
tournament. As honourable guests were invited Hu Jin Huan - professor of Wushou of China Fujian
Teacher University, vice-Chairman of Fujian Province Wushou Association, Li Yi Duan -
standing vice-chairman of China Fuzhou Wushou Association, Ruan Dong - Vice-Chairman of
Fuzhou Crane Style Wushou Federation. On opening the masters have showed up demonstration
performances.
In the second day there were competitions of senior boys group. Dmitry Koryukalov fighted in two
nominations and was 1st and 2nd accordingly. Of course, the psychological
tension was huge. Vladimir Nasuschny in one of nominations had taken 2nd place.
Next day was the younger boys group day. Alexander Shagarov had won almost all fights,
and was 1st and 3rd in his nominations. Nikita Sukhanov became the champion in
two nominations. Though for Artyom Morozov the tournament was his international debut and he had to
do his best to show what he worth. And his efforts was not in vain - he took 1st place.
Egor Malykh took 3rd place. Shangin brothers - Egor and Michael fought, tried, but didn't
gain ground. It was necessary for them to train harder.
On the last day of tournament there were competitions between champions. Winners of each nomination
fighted for the grand-champion title. Dmitry Koryukalov was 3rd. He could even win,
but two of his powerful impacts had not been counted, spectators had been watching such a behaviour
angry shouted at judges.
By results of tournament 1st place was occupied with sportsmen of Ukraine, 2 - Russians,
3 - Byelorussians. We became the fourth and it was for us very high honour, me as the trainer have
been awarded by the Certificate of honour for preparation of champions. Honourable guests from China
had held a seminar for instructors, had shared the knowledge, skills. In spite of
the fact that they are 70-76 years old, they worked with us for 8 hours a day. They were very kind,
sympathetic, natural, as small children.
- What else could get boys from competition of such level except medals and cups?
- Tournament of group "A" gives ranks of sports master candidates, the international sports
master. We have brought all reports and papers, now it is necessary to meet minister of sports and
make them ratified. Generally in karate we have special gradation - belts, dans, but the standard
ranks are necessary for guys too. It is recommended while entering university or institute or while
army service. And the participation in competitions itself raises a level of guys. They look at
others, learn something new, adopt something, study something. It is useless to stay on one place, to
cook in own juice. These trips are not cheap for us so we have to decline some invitations we
receive because of absence of required financial support. Now one trip within our own country (by the
most minimal calculations) costs about 50-60 thousand roubles (about $2000); I do not even speak about
foreign countries trips. But it is necessary for guys to participate in tournaments.
- Does anyone help in the organization, financing?
- Certainly does. We could visit this tournament due to help of such authorities as
Mr. G.M. Votinov, Mr. S.V. Pakhomov, Mr. V.V. Plishkin. The head of MO(municipal formation)
Mr. P.V. Korelin renders assistance to our club. Mr. S.V. Pakhomov and Mr. V.G. Jazovskikh financed
the club equipping. It is good that in our city there are people who understand that children are our
future and it is necessary to finance their education and training. Now an acute problem became mass
drugs use by young people. We carry on a struggle with drugs in our city. Recently we carry out an
action with fund «City without drugs». I do not dispute that people perform huge and important work.
But it is necessary to do so that children and teenagers do not reach drugs, that they have no desire
to be engaged in drugs using. All of us choose a healthy way of life. Ancient romans said: "In a
robust body - a robust mind".
- Does it means that you bring up the pupils not only healthy physically, but also spiritually?
- First of all. Certainly, children come to our club to acquire knowledge of martial arts. It is
mostly a game for them. There must pass a lot of time until they realize that it not only fight
training but everyday heavy work on themselves: self-knowledge, self-improvement, will-power
strengthen, discipline, comprehension of own capabilities, own person itself. The trainer does
specify a direction in which student should work. I inspire my students that they must be an example
of good deeds in everything, I want them to be kind, decent, honorable people. I constantly work
on myself, re-read philosophical books to comprehend something new, to give it to my students.
- What is a schedule of trainings?
- Group of younger children (6-7 years) train 1 hour three times a week, grown-ups - three
times a week for 2-3 hours, health improving group - two times a week. Those who study karate
seriously train each day. The unwritten law is: the higher one's level, the more one should train.
If one relax for just a little, become too lazy - one has lost the form. As old masters said: one day
without training - one week ago in knowledge. Those students who let themselves not to train for
three months of summer make big mistake. After such vacation they only trying to reach the
former form for the following three months.
- Who is being trained in improving group?
- Everyone who wants. It is never too late to do physical exercises, to care about health, to
change the way of life whether for 40 years old or 50 years old people. When I was young I have
undermined my health working on construction, training with weights and it was karate what have
helped me to recover it. We all are prisoners of laziness, absent-mindedness, psycological
complexness. Certainly, it is easier to sit on the favorite couch and watch the TV which, by the
way, takes away mental energy. We invite and we accept everyone who wants to train himself, who wants
to fill in emptiness.
- Do you admit girls in your karate school?
- Yes, of course. As well as I can see girls became more active, more purposeful, they
have got more man's character traits last years or decade. Girls effectively, powerfully fight at
tournaments. Maybe life became such, that they should be defenders of their children, the home;
men have neglected their duties. I don't mean everyone but the tendency exists.
- I frequently go by your school and I see how your boys sweep and tidy up territory or repair
something. They do work in general.
- Yes, all we have we made with our own hands. It is basically grown-ups who do most of things,
we involve and accustom younger children to affordable work. It would be better if our school were
situated closer to wood, to nature. I do not welcome that social work and work on a school site in
elementary and secondary schools have been cancelled. Work has spoiled nobody. If we do not accustom
children to work how could we require from them anything. Anybody who wants to achieve something
valuable in any business, whether it is sports or art, has to be not just a talented but also a
hard-working person.
- There is a karate school in town, branches in Bulanash settlement and Kirov settlement. Where
else?
- I hold training in town karate school, in Bulanash settlement - Vladimir Nasuschny, in Kirov
settlement - Dmitry Koryukalov. And there are branches in towns Talitza, Irbit, Tugulym. In my plans
there is opening a branch in Ekaterinburg. Many of my capable of karate ex-students leave our town to
study in universities. It would be desirable, that they stay in touch with me and continue to study
karate. But we are suffering from lack of finances and investments to extend our school.
- Then tell us about your plans for the future.
- I have already told about club in Ekaterinburg. In general, I have a lot of thoughts and desires.
There are no financial support. There is not enogh time and forces for everything I want to do. You
see I am both the trainer and the organizer (the manager how it is all the rage now to speak) - all
in one person. We put our hope on the aid of people who are not indifferent to destiny of our native
town and its future.
And on my opinion, the main thing for now is to find the way to construct in our town the Holy
temple. The priest Father Sergiy tries to send word to people about spiritual, holy feelings, but our
information field is filled with violence and crimes. Even holy Serafim Sarovsky said: «Until women
will not dress on head scarfs, will not come in temples, will not come there children, Russia will not
revive». Russians are not to be the same as America. Russian have their own way, their own traditions.
