December 25, 25 J.E.

Yeah, yeah, Merry Christmas and stuff.

Anyway, a funny thing happened to me yesterday. I was out working with the advertising division of my company (which basically sells certificates door to door) in downtown Pittsburgh. Yes, I KNOW it was Christmas Eve, but it looked good to have me there. Anyway, a lot of businesses were closed (surprise surprise) and a lot of buildings were completely locked up. I went into this one old office building to look around. When I was up on the top floor, I heard some people doing stuff in the downstairs lobby. I pretty much ignored them.

Once I had ascertained that the building was empty, I made my way back to the front door to leave.

It was locked. "No biggy," I thought optimisticly. I went around to look for another exit. There WERE no other exits. I began to be concerned. I looked around for a phone or any other living soul in the building. I was ALONE.

The thought of spending Christmas locked in an office building did not particularly appeal to me, but I was running out of options. I was trapped like a rat.

I decided to try to get to the roof. Fortunately the door to the roof was unlocked and I strolled out again into the cold afternoon air. Unfortunately, I was about seven stories up and there were no buildings nearby that I could casually leap to.

After looking around on the roof for a little while longer, I saw another door. I openned it, and it led to a service stairwell. I followed that down to an exit that warned that an alarm would sound if I used it. After brief hesitation and a review of my alternatives, I tore through it. It buzzed for a second, and I walked casually out of the building. Close friggin' call.

If I hadn't been sorta clever, I'd STILL be in that damn building.

I also found out that I am officially moving to MEMPHIS TENNESSEE in about three weeks! Hooray for me! Expect me to be out of touch for a little while...

I ALSO made the obligatory trip home for Christmas where I beat my parents for the FIRST TIME EVER at Trivial Pursuit, crushed my whole family at Monopoly after an absolutely horrible start, and got the winning portion of the wishbone. I could not lose. My only regret is that I could not play the lottery today.

DAMN I'm good.
