Scene 4

CAST

Jasonnicus

Scribe

First Mate

Sailor 1

Aboard the Bunchov. First Mate and Sailor 1 enter.

First Mate: I fear that the Mighty Jasonnicus still bears us will as bitter as wormwood.

Sailor 1: Indeed, but we can hardly fault him. We, his loyal crew, had betrayed him right when he was on the verge of reaching his life-long goal, and for what! For women!

First Mate: Surely, we were bewitched by divine magic most foul. I can recall how I would have rather betrayed the noble Jasonnicus than leave that island full of lascivious women, and yet now, the very thought abhors me! It was surely the work of Zeus.

Sailor 1: I concur. I too would rather die a thousand deaths than spend the rest of my life in the cruel clutches of those Amazons, to say nothing of betraying the great Jasonnicus!

First Mate: If only we could convince him of that! Behold, here he comes! Play it cool!

Jasonnicus enters.

First Mate: Good morning, noble Jasonnicus!

Jasonnicus: Hmph.

Sailor 1: Nice weather is it not?

Jasonnicus: Whatever.

First Mate: Forgive us, Jasonnicus! We were under the cruel magics of Zeus! We would never have claimed to be you under normal circumstances, for we are all grossly unworthy for the name!

Jasonnicus: The sea's getting kind of rough.

Sailor 1: But Jasonnicus, you still have the golden sheepskin! The entire Mediterranean is waiting the be debauched by thy mighty schlong!!

Jasonnicus: Shut up for a second. The sea is really getting rough.

First Mate: It is! And yet, there are no clouds in the sky!

Scribe enters.

Scribe: Jasonnicus! Something terrible is afoot!

Jasonnicus: What now?

Scribe: Remember Zeus's threat about his brothers? He has obviously enlisted the aid of Poseidon against us! We are at his mercy!

Jasonnicus: Well that figures.

First Mate: Look yonder! A giant wave is bearing down on us! Sailor 1! Cling to my buttocks!

Sailor 1: I like this game!

Jasonnicus: Hang on!

Jasonnicus exits.

First Mate: The wave has passed, and lo, the seas have again become calm. The rage of Poseidon has been sated.

Scribe: But where is Jasonnicus?

Sailor 1: He must have been swept overboard!

First Mate: Jasonnicus!

Sailor 1:  Jasonnicus!

Scribe: He is gone! 'Tis a dark day for us all!

First Mate: Now we must return to Greece to our vile wives!

Scribe: Now I will have no exploits about which to write!

Sailor 1: Indeed, the dark depths of Charybdis appear inviting to the trials we must now face without Jasonnicus the Heroic to lead us! Woe to us!
