Up until last week I was fully planning to graduate with my MBA, get a job, maybe get a chick, and live unhappily ever after under the thumb of an oppressive company and having what little earnings I had stolen by the government. If there's one thing to be said about me, I do not react well when my plans are torn asunder without warning. That's exactly what happened, too.
As I may have mentioned before, some of my credits did not come in from Manchester. I found that out in March. One of the people assured me they'd take care of it, though, so that was that. Or so I thought.
Up until pre-commencement (the weekend before real graduation) when I got my unofficial certification as an MBA, there were no problems. I would have naturally assumed that if there were, someone would surely have told me by THEN.
Last Thursday, a scant THREE days before the real graduation, I am informed that those credits never came and that I was being removed from the graduation list. DAMMIT! I was QUITE upset. I called people, including Manchester, and got the impression that nobody had requested the revised transcript. Typical.
While I was wallowing in bitterness at not getting my diploma on time because of a clerical error, a friend told me about the opportunities this opened for me. I could take a few summer classes and essentially blow them off while living off of financial aid. It made sense, since I'm stuck with this damn apartment until August anyway, and PSU has much better job search facilities.
So, by golly, I DID it! On Monday I marched right into the registrar's office, got six credits, got loans, and was happy. Too bad the classes I got don't start until the 24th of June. All this free time and no one to share it with!
But, the universe being as evil and capricious as it is, I found out YESTERDAY that my plans may have been torn asunder yet AGAIN. the aforementioned friend had attended graduation and said that my name WAS on the list of graduates. As of this time I have been unable to confirm or deny these reports, but DAMMIT! That would FIGURE!!
Actually, I don't know if that will actually change anything since I'm currently registered and all, but it still annoys me profoundly.
