Well, Thanksgiving is upon us again. Yes, the day that celebrates one of the few bright points in European-Native American relations. Fear not, though, for I won't dump a load of PC "Oh those poor Indians" crap all over the place. We came, we killed 'em, and now we got the land. That's how life was. Besides, since smallpox and measels the nearly wiped 'em out, the land was pretty much vacant.
But anyway, the REAL reason I'm writing this is to celebrate the coming of yet another new pet. I am now the proud owner of a Hairy Desert Scorpion. He's an active, aggressive little bastard. He stung my probe without too much hesitation. Meanwhile, I can't get Lucius to sting ANTHING. Speaking of such, Cornelius has gotten a bit aggressive lately. I actually got him to bite for the first time since I bought him. Must be old age.
So once again I grappled with what to name my newest acquisition. I was considering naming him after the Roman emperor Hostilian, but that seemed a little passe. After much searching, my Internet 'Ho proved that she earned her equestrian management degree from Nowhere University by suggesting "Borgia". If you don't know the historical significance of that name, go look it up. What am I, your bucket in the well of wisdom? Suffice to say they were a medieval family infamous for poisoning their enemies. So, in spite of the name coming from her, I decided to go ahead and name my new scorpion Borgia anyway.
He's much more active than my other pets, too. He spent his first couple of days burrowing and generally rearranging everything in his cage. Then I replaced it with a deeper substrate of topsoil, and he quit. Typical.
DAMN I'm cool. Nobody appreciates my pets.
