Cornelius G. Rosea passed away sometime in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 29. He was a native of Chile, where he devoted his time to improving the conditions and economy of his native land through most of the 80's and 90's. He then retired to the United States, but remained active in the Arachnid Anti-Defamation League. He is survived by his beloved owner and founder of the AADL, Jason H. Hall, and a few dozen spiderlings still roaming around in Chile. The eulogy was delivered by Lucius P. Imperator. Also in attendance were Borgia H. Arizonis, current VP of the AADL, and 19 Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches.
Sigh.
Thus ends the tale of my third tarantula. Ol' Cornelius died of unknown causes. Well, actually, it was pretty clear that he died of severe dehydration, even though he had PLENTY of water (I practically dunked the son of a bitch). The fact that he refused to drink and the fact that he dehydrated over just a couple of weeks (normally it would take MONTHS for a desert species to die) says to me that it was probably old age that did him in.
On the bright side, my evil mother had sworn to ensure that I was forever saddled with a tarantula and has purchased both of the tarantulas I had after the death of my first. Sure, you may think that's nice, but her motives are far from milky white. She sees it as a curse. Far be it from me to deprive her of that delusion. It could be worse. She could be buying me DOGS or some crap like that.
The upside of all this is that now I can get a new tarantula! Woo-hoo! Screw this pet store crap. From now on, I'm getting exotic, captive-born species. I'll buy them young and raise them to be stunningly huge adults. That's my plan. Yep. Of course, I'll have to wait until the weather warms up so I can have them shipped in without freezing to death.
Whatever happened to Sour Cream and Onion Doritos? I liked those.
