White collar crime, although lacking in the excitement and immediate rewards of street crime, can very often be more profitable and lead the shorter jail times. ASU focuses on the modern opportunities for criminals as well as the changes new technologies are bringing to the marketplace.
WCC101- The History of White Collar Crime
A survey of the options available to students in different fields of white collar crime and of great criminals of the past. This course relies heavily on case studies to illustrate the various scenarios graduates may have to contend with.(3 credits)
WCC201- Introduction to Fraud
One of the most common and easiest forms of white collar crime, fraud is the cornerstone on which all such crimes are based.(3 credits)
HACK201- Introduction to Hacking
Students will learn the basics of computer hacking, what to look for while hacking, and how it can be profitable.(3 credits)
HACK202- Advanced Hacking
This class focuses on actual hacking excercises against companies that are less than vigilant in their computer security. Students will apply the theory they learned in HAK210.(3 credits)
HACK303- Electronic Sabotage
Occasionally even a white collar criminal must resort to intimidation. This class provides an easy way to hit the corporations where it hurts.(3 credits)
LAW320- Winning Against the Government
This course looks at the strengths and weaknesses of federal institutions such as the IRS and SEC, insuring that they do not interfere with the students' attempts to better themselves.
LAW321- The Myth of Intellectual Property
Why should someone get sole rights to an idea just because they thought of it first? That's the question the professor poses in a class dedicated to helping students find a way around this unfair restriction of trade.(3 credits)
LAW322- Things That Should Be Illegal But Aren't
Students learn about loopholes in business and financial laws that exploit the letter of the statute while stomping on the spirit.(3 credits)
FIN322- Exploiting the Investment Markets
This class equips students with a variety of tools to twist the laws of chance to their favor. Insider trading is just the tip of the iceberg.(3 credits)
INTL205- Exploiting International Investment Markets
Similar to FIN322, this course takes a more international stance, teaching students how to use exchange rates, time zones, and foreign money laundering opportunities.(3 credits)
