Cleansing

The shower pelts
On my moisture sapped skin
Drinking
In the water
Rehydrating me
Water runs
Off my eyelids
My nose
Down my chest
And breasts
Down my stomach
Wetting
My legs
And the tile
Under my feet

Water
Refreshing
Cleansing
Washing you off of me
Washing you away from me

I lean my head
Against the wall
The water runs
Off my shoulders
Streaming
Down my back

Deafening
As it fills my ears
Deafening
Me to you
Inside
And out

I cry
I wash
I scrub furiously
My skin is reddened
I wash it again

What went wrong?

I am angry
I rinse again
I am infuriated
At you
At myself
I should have been stronger
I should have fought
Harder

The water runs
Cleansing
Washing
Scrubbing
Me clean
Of the guilt
Of the feel
Of the smell
Of the touch
Of you.
