Travellin’ Man
You’ve seen things
That I can only imagine
Sun scarred eyes
Reliving memories
Behind darkened glasses
You’ve walked places
Only your worn boots
Covered with layer
After layer
Of the experiences
You’ve lived
So slick
So cool
Standing
Wrapped
In you beatnik leather
And the cloak of your past
You wander
Day by day
By day
You body here
The present
Your mind
Locked
In the past
Buried
In a shroud
Of crumbled memories
Fragmented and twisted
Like shrapnel
An effort to cope
To remold your life
To fit your slender frame
Frame of mind
Frame of reference
Travellin’ man
Walkin’
Down rain drenched asphalt
What goes through your mind?
What keeps you sane
And out of your darker side?
What do you see
When you feel
The soiled light
Of a harvest moon
Shinin’ overhead
Travellin’ man
