Man Ray, born Emmanuel Radnitzky in 1890, Philadelphia, produced his first significant photos in 1918, he lived in NY then and he met Marcel Duchamp, they formed together the NY Dada, in 1921 he moved to Paris with Marcel Duchamp, in Paris he gained fame as a photographer of the Dada and the Surrealist movement and also in fashion and portraits.

In 1994 Man Ray archive was donated to the Centre George Pompidou, it contain 13500 negatives and 5000 contact prints, contact prints are to a photographer what drawings are to a painter, Man Ray wanted us to believe he was a dilettante, that his photos were a result of chance, seeing this exhibition proves us his photos were a result of hard labor and careful reflection.

Man Ray invented several techniques like Rayographs and Polarization, he was a known photographer and a painter.
