" Les Champs de la Sculpture " 2000, Paris, France.
or " Sculpture in the Space of Confusions ".
The success of the 1996 exhibition was such that a more contemporary exhibition - one spanning the last 30 years of the century was immediately envisaged, the mayor of Paris, Mr Jean Tiberi presents " Champs de la Sculpture " and herein inaugurate the cultural activities for the year 2000. featuring artists from seven continents.
" Champ de la Sculpture ", featuring fifty two different artists and approaches allows us to identify certain trends in the redefinition of sculpture since 1970. The late 1960s and 1970s witnessed a major change with the emergence of the last avant-guard movements ( Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Body Art, Arte Povera, etc. ). The turning point of the 1980s was that post modernism, which involved - within the context of increasing uncertainty - a variety of artistic solutions, a multiplicity of forms, and the return of certain possibilities or modes of expression that has been seen as outdated or academic. ( The text was taken from the catalogue of the exhibition and from the introduction of Mr Yves Michaud, professor of philosophy in the university of Paris ).
