This is a premiere exhibition of the work by the Chinese performance artist Zhang Huan, recently participated at a group show - " Inside Out ", at PS 1, photographs and videos of his performance piece - " Wind and Water in NY ", Oct. 98 are shown here, also photos from his video piece: " Raise the Water Level in a Fishpond ".
Other works include " Foam " performance photos of the artist portraits with portraits of his family in his mouth, these are the most strong and compelling photos of the show, also photos of the artist wearing carcass of a large animal.
The serene and disturbing beauty of these photos reveals a unique sensibility not known in America these days by any American artist. Recently he was included in a group show at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, The Smart Museum in Chicago, in Kent and Vicki Logan collection in San Francisco.
