The Mayors of Calais ", by Rodin at The Metropolitan Museum
of Art, NY.
The English army
was going to capture the french city of Calais, they sent a message
that if the mayors of Calais are going to give them selves, the
whole city is going to be saved, the mayors were given and were
sentensed to death and the city was saved, Rodin sculpted the
whole scene, one of the copies is at the coffee shop of the Museum.
