This is a caracal
which is regarded as one of the most savage amongst the
smaller cats. The drawing is done in pastel on Canson
Mi-Teintes paper.

These are zebra
which have unique camouflaging stripes. This makes it
difficult to single out an individual in a herd which is
moving. The drawing is done in oils on an acrylic primed
canvas panel.

These are buffalo
which are gregarious, somtimes in herds up to 2000. They
are generally docile but are agressive when threatened.
Oxpeckers are often seen with them providing a grooming
service. The drawing is done in oils on an acrylic primed

These are a pair of cheetahs
which can reach a speed of 70km/h making them the fastest
mammal. They hunt on open ground but can only sprint for
short periods requiring a long recovery period. The
drawing is done in oils on an acrylic primed canvas

This an elephant,
the largest of the land mammals.Male elephants live alone
in or in small bachelor groups.They live about 60 yearrs
when their teeth have been worn down and they can no
longer feed. The drawing is done in oils on a stretched

These are are a herd of giraffe
in typical pose at a waterhole. They usually congregate
in small groups. Their greatest enemy are lion which
makes them susceptible to danger whilst drinking. The
drawing is done in oils on an acrylic primed canvas

These are guineafowl
feeding. They often follow troops of monkeys to feed on
fruit dropped by them. The drawing is done in oils on a

This is a male lion
resting up for the day. Lions spend most of the day
dozing under tree and mainly hunt at night. The drawing
is done in oils on an acrylic primed canvas panel.

This is a lioness
surveying a plain. The female lion does most of the work
when hunting but will always allow the male to feed
first. The drawing is done in oils on an acrylic primed

This shows the enormity of
the baobab tree and the beauty
of Africa. The zebra are dwarfed by the tree and by the
huge anthill. The drawing is done in oils on a stretched
canvas.

This is a group of eland
which generally move in small herds. They are the largest
and heaviest of the antelope family. Both males and
females have horns. The drawing is done in pastel on
Canson Mi-Teintes paper.

This is a giraffe
mother with young. Female giraffes give
birth whilst standing. During the day the young are left
in the care of one or two females whilst the rest search
for food. The drawing is done in pastel on Canson
