Thief of Time, Tony Hillerman (Harper & Row, 1988) ***

This is my favorite of Hillerman's novels. Artifacts are being stolen from protected archaeological sites on the Navajo reservation. Then an anthropologist who discovers the thefts turns up missing. This great adventure/mystery in classic Hillerman.
