Angle of Repose, Wallace Stegner (Doubleday, 1971 ) ****

This relatively long novel won the Pulitzer Prize in 1972. It's a generational saga set in the early West, wonderfully told by a fictitious descendant. A marvelous read for those long nights of winter.  It is the story of a man's struggle and a families history and a very strong woman .
