Lesane Crooks aka TuPac Amaru Shakur was
born June 16,1971 in New York City. His mother Alice
Faye Walker aka Afani Shakur was in jail while she
was pregant with TUPAC on bomb charges. Afani was one
of the founders of the Black Panther Party.
After moving to Baltimore in 1986 TUPAC enrolled in
the Baltimore School for the Arts. He woud then write
his first rap under the name MC New York. TUPAC did
not graduate but he did receive his GED.
Shortly after receiving his GED he hooked up with
Digital Underground as a roadie,equipment
manager,dancer, and rapper. TUPAC first appeared on
Digital Underground's hit single "Same Song".This
would be just the beginning of his career and the impact he would make on our lives.
