How It All Began
I met Peter in Hong Kong last year, at the HKIS "Reunion of the Century". Even though we were only 2 years apart in school, our paths did not cross until this reunion, 20 years after graduation.
It was while my sister and I were doing research on where to find the best Margaritas in Hong Kong that we ran into Peter and his brother, Andy (so we met in a BAR, okay?) It happened to be Andy's bar and the boys graciously offered to buy our drinks. After a lengthy review of all the places the four of us have lived, we determined that none of us had ever lived anywhere even remotely close to one another, except for Hong Kong, and we had not lived there at the same time. This revelation was followed by a period of silence. It seemed like a very LONG silence. I made a lame attempt to revive the conversation, by asking their birthdates, which I jotted down on a napkin.
Andy's birthday is July 31st.
Feel free to make a note of it. (Achworow@HK.super.net)
By the time his birthday arrived, the reunion pictures were developed and I found a lovely picture of Andy, (drinking, smoking, wearing a sombrero and leaning on Barbara Schwartzmann) which I had blown up into a poster and mailed to him
Peter saw it and emailed me, "Yikes, please tell me I didn't tell you my birthday."
To which, I responded, "If I remember right, and I do
It's March 27, 1959. I'm already planning something really big.
At the time I had nothing planned at all, but over the months since that initial meeting, Peter and I had become good friends and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make him crazy.

So I started writing to his friends, who enthusiastically joined in and
Peter's Global Birthday Tribute
was born
It's unfortunate that today's birthday boy had to miss out on most of the fun. His friends have had a blast for the last 8 months, gathering memories and tributes and sending him misleading and ominous information. Sorry you had to miss it Pete!
Thanks for all the fun.
