Peter's Girls
The most interesting responses came from the girls Peter has known. Unfortunately, the most important one (his wife) could not be contacted without spoiling the surprise. Sorry Sharon!!!
Peter says that when he first saw Sharon, he thought she was exotic... beautiful. He HAD to talk to her, even though she was NOT interested in talking to him! Eventually he was able to pursuade her that he wasn't such a bad guy, and now, three children later, he says Sharon is a wonderful mother and deeply committed to their kids.
From Ellen Sheffer Barnes:
Peter and I shared Biology class together. He was my lab partner and I always say he got me through Biology. He was my buddy, but Amat teases him that he followed me around! He always wore baggy pants and I remember they were grey pants...I don't know if they really always were, but that is what I remember.
Marybeth Lee
I was not able to find Marybeth, who was Peter's friend/girlfriend in High school.

He remembers her like a gentle breeze blowing on a hot summer day.
Ellen Rockne
Ellen was never much of a letter writer and although she was enthusiastic about this project, she never quite got pen and paper together.
My Memories of Peter by Kari Shimasaki
I always thought these kind of retrospectives came late in a person's life. You know, when one has accomplished some great personal feat and has not only touched but also enhanced many lives. Understandably family, friends and coworkers want to thank this person on occassion. However, there are also retrospectives for people how have neither accomplished or contributed much to others, except to have simply survived life. Yes, their biggest feat is to have miraculously grown old. I therefore would like to congratulate Peter for getting so old and thank him for being forever older than me. (3 months
is still 3 months for those of you who insist on being technical.)
We met back in 1973 or 1974--it was a rather unremarkable year and I forget the exact date. It was the first day of class in Introductory Physical Science or I.P.S. as it was called back then. Peter was a new student. He was tall already, with a wholesomeness one only finds with people fresh off the farm. I can clearly see his "bushel" of red hair, milk fed complexion and gentle brown eyes. I also recall with relief that he spared us by not bringing the "esence" of the farm as well.

I arrived fashionably late to class. Fashionable was NOT the word used to describe our uniforms, however. But with literally so "little" to work with, I recall making it enhance by better qualitites anyway. (Hey, I'm writing this story, so I'm allowed some creative license.) Needless to say, most all of the students had paired up as lab partners, except for the new kid, Peter. So there we were, thrown together. It would literally take years before we actually developed a true "chemistry". And it took just as many years to uncover that underneath this good religious boy lurked a volatile cocktail of hormones and youth. I was so busy cheating off his lab notes that I failed to notice the fervor with which he "stripped" down chemicals and gleamed at their "naked" components. In memory of this, I rename that fated I.P.S. class to "In Pursuit of Sex" in his honor.

Time has mercifully eased much of the "growing pains" for Peter now that he has been able to bear fruit to many children (3 so far). And we have been lucky to share life's experiences together: laughter, joy, my accomplishments, and his failures, and last but not least, our friendship.

With Much Love
Kari Shimasaki

P.S. Is he dead yet?
The Dudleys' Girl, Cindy Bauman
From Amat:
Believe it or not, all the Dudleys had, at one time or another dated Cindy. I dated her in my Sophomore year. Got together with her in Taiwan on a school interchange. She was dating a guy from KG-5 at the time: John Langford. I wouldn't come to know John for two more years when he transferred to HKIS in his Senior year. Peter dated her when we broke up the first time in my Junior year. Rodney dated her, I think, before John.
