We did NOT force Smiths to watch this. We don't want the world to know the real story of our good little boy.

I met Peter soon after he arrived in HK. We met through Donna Esgro, whom neither of us are in contact with now, but I have memories of Peter and I watching her apply her mascara with our mouths open. Another early memory is of Peter telling me the scar o his cheek was a dueling scar (it wasn't). We became great buddies, our sisters became great buddies, our parents became great buddies, my parents changed their will so that if they dropped dead, John and Jo would become our parents...(we waited and waite , but they never did). After HKIS, Peter and I remained good friends...spent good times together in Philadelphia, New York and D.C. - then later in HK and Taiwan. Peter's main role in my life in those days was to veto bad boyfriends. Luckily, one got thr ugh. These days, I have the great pleasure of sometimes sitting in my office, the phone rings - "Hi. Watcha doin tonight?"- Peter - in HK for 24 hours . Peter, your friendship over the last 25 (?!) years has meant the world to me. Happy Birthday, darling Love, Tara (p.s. I told you you could trust me).

Hey, nobody mentioned your musical prowess in any of their tributes so I guess it is up to moi! Peter and his trombone, quite a sight, especially when he decided to empty his spit valve. But we had fun, Amat with his clarinet, Burkard with his flute, Tami with her saxophone, Steve on drums and yours truely with my own saxophone. I can't understand why we never made the HK top 40 play list....

Peter, Of all the funny times we had, the only thing that stands out for me is how you always sat with Tara Whitehill and myself on the bus. Every morning for over an hour, you sat and gave that half-smile of yours while she and I belted out Rogers and Hammer tein tunes. Everyone else cursed at us but you withstood it all. Of course, I'm convinced you had a humongous crush on Tara. Anyway, welcome to club 40 (I beat you by about a month). Have a happy day and a great year. Cathy Smith Caviness (HKIS'75) P.S. Let me explain my email address before you get it wrong. The first '1' is a 'one' and the second 'l' is the letter 'el'. Everyone gets it wrong the first time out. Of course, I don't mean 'out' as in the rugby story. Whatever.

Where did you know Peter?: Got a peek at him at "The Gorge"

I went up to Ventura for the Anthony Jesu's BD party and did get to talk a little bit about Pete and the old days in between beers and food. Everyone remembers Pete as sort of a "poofta" on the rugby pitch and I had to convince them that Pete was always a real stud on and off the field and is now happily married with children. Anthony said, "Married?! What's Peter's husband's name?" That's w en fist-a-cuffs broke out and I stood there blow for blow defending Peter's name and honor....Phew! As far as Terror of Taroko Gorge, I definitely remember the whole incident but I can't remember if I was on the bus or if I was down there frolicking in the water somewhere along the shore line. But I do remember that that water was awfully cold and Pete should have thought about that before standing on that rock baring all in his BVDs because you know what they say - "COLD water looks a lo better on a woman than it does on a man" Happy Birthday Pete! Chris

Happy Birthday Dude. Although I do remember your face I don't actually remember you!?! I was at HKIS for my senior year only (class of '75) and like you I met Judi at a reunion and I found out you can't turn your back on her and you better be darn caref l what you say around her! I have enjoyed going through your BD tribute and you seem like someone I could hang with. Hopefully at Toroko Gorge (my senior trip there was a blast too) or some Margarita Bar in the Barrio. If you're ever in Alaska give me buzz. David

Peter, Thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and sharing some laughs and a few brews in HK. I found it amazing that we could swap HKIS stories without having known each other at HKIS. I've recommended your pub (Dan Ryan's) to some of my other HK friends and will drop i again when I next get to HK. Happy Birthday. (Don't you just feel like a celebrity?) Chris Cole ('75)

Peter, I just wanted to say Happy Birthday. I am late to this site (it is March 10), so it is impressive to see how many friends you have who have spent so much time to prepare this. I am not surprised! Hope you have a wonderful day and year. I look forward t seeing you next time you get to Seattle (with or without family). Kathy D.

I remember Peter because he was a contemporary of my brother, Greg. It's a pity I didn't get to know him better. From all that the others have said, he seems like a great guy that people really care about. I'll see if I can get my brother to write something here, too. Tim

Hope you have a great year, and if you're ever in southern Indiana, please stop in and say hi, or better yet, stay for a while. God bless, Richard and Kathie Siegert
