The icon follows the traditional iconographic scheme: Christ is in the centre, his himation has fallen off his left shoulder , revealing part of his chest with the wound. His right hand with the wound points at Thomas who is pointing at the wound. The Apostle Thomas is shown in profile, a rare representation in Bulgarian paintings until the 18th C. The apostles grouped symmetrically, are on both sides of christ. The one on the right is led by Apostle Peter. The action takes place in front of a domed temple, whose architectural details are painted in pale blue, ochre and pink. This colour scheme lends a certain vividness to the icon. The characteristic facial type which is the same everywhere , distinguishes the icons painted at the Prissovo studio, probably at the monastery of the same name near the village of Prissovo, Veliko Turnovo district. They strictly follow the working style of painter John from Chevindol, who was the only one to sign his icon.
