Icon typical for the rich iconostasis of the small chapels, built durint the 18 th and 19 th centuries in the Rila Monastery. The Virgin is depicted in raspberry-red maphorion on an intense blue background. The light color spots, shaded with transparent layers of paint, the deep folds of the drapery, the shades, creat a balanced rythm of the composition. The type and the manner suggest the icon was written by masters from the Samokov iconography school
