I grew up on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. The Atlantic puffin is the symbol of this scenic and unique little paradise. The name "Global Puffin" symbolizes the visual distribution of my work throughout the world. I've lived in several places within Canada and presently live on Prince Edward Island. The majority of my present creations are inspired by the beauty of Atlantic Canada with its vast array of scenic landscapes and wildlife.
I've been drawing and painting for as far back as I can remember. Taking an idea and developing it into an actual piece of art is very rewarding (more importantly it's fun!). I pay special attention to detail and capture not only a realistic portrayal of my subject, but also the essence and mood. My favorite mediums are acrylic and computer rendering but I also use airbrushed inks, pen and ink, coloring pencil ,water color, wood and metal. I have a strong backrounds in lithographic and full color screen printing as well.
I have ten years experience as an Industrial Arts teacher (woodworking, graphic design, Cad, etc.) as well as teaching the fine arts and academic programs. My students have ranged from kindergarten to college aged. I welcome any questions you may have that would help you in the field of art or industrial education. If you don't wish to learn techniques you can always hire me to produce artwork and patterns for you!
