SO WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE GUYS?
The Singer: After the Gravediggers disbanded, Leighton started The Morlocks, a highly original, successful band, that contained himself, Ted, Jeff Lucas from The Answers, and landed instant local fame in San Diego. Bored, they headed North to San Francisco, where the antics and legends of the members grew in the thriving SF music scene of the late eighties. Then....after some mishaps, mysteriously, ala ? of The Mysterians, Leighton's whereabouts became unknown, never to be revealed except to a precious few.

The Lead Guitarist: Ted Friedman, talented and "special", joined the Morlocks as well, and upon the band's unfortunate and untimely end, was still a star on the stage in a bunny suit with the Annual Easter Sunday Nightbreak show with Trout's Chris Manners, and performance artist, scam-artist and brilliant artist Jack Colby's always morbid, always rockin', GT Jesus and The Crawling Asylum. Shows reknowned for their songs as much as earthworm stuffed easter eggs thrown at the crowd, The Asylum was a definite institution in the Haight. During this time, along with Chris and several others, Ted was a resident of the infamous CENTRAL HOUSE, the center of madness and mayhem to proportions unknown. (Click on link for Reprise Records Dirt Magazine profile of the house). After this stint, Ted became a real gravedigger (archeological student)among other things, and now lives by the Santa Monica Pier, surfing with the world's best. He has steadily played music in LA and is now dusting off his '66 Firebird for Cavestomp

The First Bass Player
Chris Gast:
The youngest in the band and 15 when he joined, Chris was by far the wyldest of the bunch, with perhaps the exception of Ted. It was fun, fun, fun, till Leighton took the bass away......Chris was replaced due to inefficient playing and drug use and Bass Player II, Tom Ward, stepped up, and, as the band finally gave up, Chris moved up to SF with The Morlocks, and his Psychic TV/Throbbing Gristle-ish outfit, NTA (nihilistic tones of annoyance), joining the Genesis P Oriddge scenery and occult circles. Also moving into CENTRAL HOUSE, he held court and sway, and organized many a party that would make any of the Merry Pranksters blush. Through the revolving door of residents that included Larry "Lampost" Halterman (singer of their band The Electric Breakfast, then punk offering Spoiler), and many others right up until wife-to-be, Alyssa moved in, in 1991, when he was a member of Colt .45 and The Liver Reaction. From that point on he was one of the fortunate few to get along famously with Tom Guido, and played The Purple Onion regularly with Brian Jonestown Massacre, Panda, Broom, Deadbolt and other touring bands that would come to the Onion back then. Also playing around town at other SF spots, his bandmates included ex-Answers guitarist Dave Fleminger, aka Scrappi from Mondo Vanilli, Rob Labbe, and Andy Grossberg until moving to Austin with GAST in 1997.

The Other Guitarist:
John Hanrattie: As mystical, mysterious and elusive as they come, John moved in a variety of circles. He founded the reputable fanzine, December's Children, (guess about what band)with new perspective on The Stones. A unique and intriguing individual, he is an intense expert on "weaponry" and a blunt sense of self. John was an integral part of the bands reputation. An enigma of great proportions.

The Drummer:
Dave Anderson: An incredible sight with wow sounds on the skins, Dave has since played with an incredibly diverse group of musicians in Southern California, including playing with The Trebels, and a close stint and association with Mojo Nixon's former sidekick Skid Roper among others. A proud father, he is also most likely the sanest of the bunch.
