Hundreds Die!

HÜSKER DÜ STAMPEDE!

ONCE JADED SCRIBES PANIC!

LOS ANGELES READER (Chris Morris): "It's (Zen Arcade) a savagely committed piece of daredevil rock 'n' roll. They've taken a wild and bold step into the major leagues."

BAM (Drew Wheeler): "Of course only an idiot thinks he knows who the best band in the country is. And at this point, I'd say it was Husker Du."

CREEM (David Ayers): "Dig it, man, these guys can cook!"

ROCKPOOL (Terry Tolkin): "This (Zen Arcade) is quite simply the most important and relevant double-album since the Beatles' White Album. Its more pop than REM, more psychedelic than Three O'Clock, more grungy and ugly than Black Flag, and its more accessable than any of the earlier Husker efforts is."

L.A. HERALD EXAMINER (Mikal Gilmore): "(Zen Arcade) is perhaps this year's most breathtaking solid rock set-as inventive as the best recent fare by the Minutemen or Meat Puppets, as fierce as the Clash's 1977 debut, as wide-ranging as (the Rolling Ones') Exile...and as revealing and impious as Dylan's best (old) electric moments. If you're wondering what America's best new bands are sounding like, nine bucks will buy you an answer."

PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER (Ken Tucker): "Probably the most important band to emerge from the so-called hard-core scene."

CREEM (Robert Christgau): "I play side three (of Zen Arcade) for pleasure and side two for catharsis. And I get a kick out of the whole fucking thing. A-"

A drunken
driver stole
this man's
Christmas

A year ago, Argelia and David
Robles were deeply in love. Mar-
ried just 10 months, they were
preparing for their first Christmas
as husband and wife.

Argelia didn't like to spend much
time separated from her husband.
Even when she shopped, she always
insisted on having David along.
