Here's another remarkable, unpublished find!
After Ditko left Marvel in early '66, one of the people with whom he hooked up
was artist Sal Trepani, bro-in-law of Dick Giordano. Seems Sal had a few accounts
with Dell, D.C. and A.C.G. and needed some help with layouts. Sal hired Ditko
for that purpose, and one of the books they worked on together was Dell's
GET SMART. Some of the stuff they did together, like the A.C.G. material,
is almost non-recognizable as Ditko. But clearly Sal must have wanted something
a little more when it came to a name property like the T.V. show GET SMART.
The piece below was given to someone by Sal and it can best be called a "try-out
sheet", if you will, of Ditko drawing some of the GET SMART characters.
You can see part of it is inked and part is just pencils. Another fabulous
unpublished Ditko find from yur DITKO LOOKED UP buddies!
