INCREDIBLE HULK
Considering the Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Ditko has quite a history
with the green (or grey)-skinned hero. Issue #2, way back in July of 1962 marked one of the
handful of times Ditko and Kirby would collaborate together as Ditko handled the inking
chores on Kirby's Toadmen story. Issue #6 saw Ditko take over the art reigns for a memorable
issue as Ditko cut loose with the Metal Master as the Hulk's villian of the month. Hulk came
to a grinding halt with that issue before he popped up again for eight Ditko-drawn issues
in Tales To Astonish, starting with Issue #60 in October of 1964. Rumour has it that
Ditko was given a choice of three Marvel heroes to put in the title and he chose the Hulk.
1980 saw two different Ditko-drawn Hulk books. The first was Issue #249, which is the cover
presented here. The second is from Annual #9 (33 pages!) with Al Milgrom inking. Ditko took
the Hulk into the '90s in Marvel Super-Heroes #3 ('90), returning to the look of 1963 with
inks by Marshal Rogers. To see Ditko's 1963 version of the Hulk, click
