The 10 things I hate most about Windows 951. Its cost. 2. The BIG investment you have to do in hardware so Windows 95 can work ¨fine¨ 3. Once you have installed it, it doesn’t look so beautiful, unless you buy Microsoft PLUS and all the optional stuff (not included, of course!) 4. The absolute lack of control on the way it behaves. 5. The EXCESSIVE use of disk space... just to install it! 6. The mess it creates with files and directories that has the custom to create, use, and leave behind, forgotten in every track of your disk. 7. The PANIC I feel every time it doesn´t feel like booting and I have to risk my existence trying to make it work again. 8. The big headaches it causes when you want to use a cool DOS-based program and the stubborn Windows doesn´t let it work properly. 9. The lack of continuity with its predecessor, Windows 3.11 10. Once you have installed a program, you can be sure that it will be very difficult to uninstall it. 10 good reasons for NOT installing Explorer 4.01. It’s slow. 2. It uses far too much disk space. 3. It’s very slow. 4. It’s more that the client asked for (and the poor client didn’t like what he got!) 5. It tends to get blocked. 6. It’s very very slow. 7. If you ever uninstall it, it will delete ALL your internet configuration files, so if you want to get connected again, you will have to reinstall the full software. 8. It’s really really as slow as a tiny snail!! 9. If you were happy with Explorer 3.x, don’t get disappointed with Explorer 4.0 10. Remember the existence of Netscape. How to get rid of your hard disk space on 10 easy steps.1. Install Windows 95 2. Install Explorer 4.0 3. Configure your browser with a history log of 30 days or more. 4. Install Office 97 (as long as your computer has enough guts to digest it!) 5. Save all your images as bitmaps. 6. Include bitmaps on your documents. 7. Save AVI films on your disk. 8. Don’t erase unused documents. What for? 9. Install computer games that need disk space on quantity! 10. Let your son download computer games from Internet. NewsFor a long, long time, we were happy working with our PC computers and feeling happy with our standard 640 KB RAM, until the day on wich the bright nerds that develop the operating systems decided it would be nice to have a personal computer with a larger processing potential than the very best file servers available at the time. So they starting working on that malicious plot until their operating systems required larger and larger computers to run on... Today, more than twelve years of blasting headlong into this amazing world of the computers, we are surprised to see what at first sight seems to be a move backwards.... Our spies say that the guys at a very known computer software firm are developing a version of one of the most popular operating systems that might let us rescue our old 286 and 386 computers from the abandonment on wich we have let them fall... So, if you are one of the fortunate owners of a powerful 286 or 386 computer, don´t let it gather dust on an abandoned attic! Think that maybe, at the end of this year, we will be able to get them working again thanks to the same folks that for years told us that those machines were as useless as a motorless vehicle... |
