About the Artist - purpose and focus

With paint, I wish to express my awe of the created world in an effort to reflect the glory of God.  I have been greatly blessed, and wish to share that gift with others as a means of sharing my faith and the joy I find in Jesus Christ.  I find inspiration in the bible; the written word of God.  I believe that the bible is true, and that God reveals himself through it.

For the Word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. - Heb 4:12

I like to think that I grow a little more with each passing day.  Each time pigment touches canvas, I consider what effect it carries and what the stoke says about my thoughts.  Sometimes I am fascinated by what is created, but at other times, I fear that all direction is lost; that the vision has left.  At these times, it is my devotion to Christ that helps me reconsider my path.  I wish only to offer Him praises; to let the composition sing a song that may rise as sweet incense, pleasing to the Lord.

In my current work, I attempt to mirror the joy found in the shapes and colors of this world; to find the essential elements of each subject shed of excess weight.  Although not a realist, I hope to create images that take solid form; that seem to have body and mass.  I desire an image that welcomes the viewer to enter and touch the contours, lines and spaces.  I wish my work to be both engaging and freeing.

In subjects, I look for ways the Lord has provided light in a darkened world.  Whether though the vibrancy of nature, or the ingenuity and art of man, I believe all things praise God.  As a work created by His own hand, I can be no different.
