Mixed Media | I have been experimenting with some larger works under the Mixed Media and Plaster Castings category. These works are usually very large, perhaps even imposing with interation. The light source is very important but easily manipulated. Please take the time to view the slide show, it is well worth the download time. "Faces". This slide show is all the same piece, but with multiple effects in the imaging. Enjoy.
Ceramics | Ceramics with traditional glazings and some experiemental glazings I have researched. There are numerous effects I've discovered that I'm very proud, for example, metallic effects on ceramic pottery. This allows my metal works to go quite well with the ceramic works. There are even a couple of quick fire glazes And/or Enamals that mend themselves to ceramic pieces and various metals.
Jewelry | While I like large works, I am also drawn to the intricacies integral to Jewelry. I believe the time I've spent learning about Jewelry has improved all aspects of my sculpting, because I have enhanced my attention to detail craftmanship and increased my patience. I do most of my work with semiprecious and precious metals, sometimes with stone settings.
Metal Working | I love working with metal. Welding and cutting have been very Exciting. The macroscale of this medium is very challenging especially logistically. The robust feel of the metal is hard to compare. Years ago before I became comfortable with metal, I was hit by a work that fell on me and I was trapped underneath! I'm older and wiser now with the respect of the media, and as the years go on my love for the size and affect these pieces put forth continues to grow.
Soft Sculpture | I like the soft forms that this medium provides. It is challenging to get the right "look" and even more challenging to keep that look in place while so many viewers like to see with their hands. I hope you enjoy just looking, I relize that much is lost. |
