Come From

I come from a few different places, with quite different feelings about them. One was Minnesota- quite wide open. The sky is the major feature of the landscape. Sky and lake - a bright blue place. The people are reserved. The pace is unfrenetic. Locks are left off doors.

Before that was Washington, DC. Claustrophobic, stifling. Bustling, but seeming to go nowhere. I would suffer from headaches when the clouds were oppressive overhead. The place was built on a swamp, and somehow the swamp still wins, even though it is unseen.

Now I am in Philly. Another attitude. An unusual big city- people live here their entire lives. Minneapolis and Washington were always in transition. Not so Philly, Its trying hard to stand still. But the people fall somewhere between the brash NY attitude and a more laid-back Southern attitude. Just general impressions.
