WHIPPOORWILL

To see the earth so red and freshly tilled,
Brought pain and sorrow for this barren land.
Her empty soul did ache to understand.
Yet then, she heard a lonely whippoorwill.
The emptiness the music seemed to fill.
A glimpse of hope, despite the human hand.
Oh lonely bird, your message did command.
Her vow to you she promises to instill.
She will cherish, value, love, and give praise
To have for every creature great and small.
No more for her to see a lonely haze,
Or hear sadness in the whippoorwill call.
For joy and peace to delight and amaze
Can be found in nature by one and all.
