O'Carolan's Welcome
Here's another tune by noted harper and composer Turlough O'Carolan. It was written originally as a slow air. But it works so well as a waltz, I couldn't resist interpreting it as such. This tune also appears in the traditional music archives because I can't decide whether O'Carolan's stuff deserves to be here, or there.
Johnny O'Reilly's Polka
One day I was idly listening to the radio when I came upon this marvellous Irish tune. I ran and got my cheap cassette recorder, recorded this tune, and learned it that night. I don't know who John O'Reilly is -- or what band played this tune -- but I am grateful to both for providing such a nice bit of music.
Copa Cabana This arrangement is based on a tune written by jazz impresario Herbie Mann, the king of 'cool' jazz. I shortened the 'A' part by four measures, and changed the rhythm somewhat. This is a tune I have been playing with my brothers since I was about fifteen. I think this is the first jazz tune I learned.
