Collaborations/Tunes by other composers.
Here are some tunes I've gotten off the web, collaborated on, received from people I know, or some combination thereof. Note that these tunes are copyrighted by the authors. Please respect their wishes concerning duplication and/or distribution. All of Christopher E. Ralph's tunes shown here are (c)1992-1998 by Christopher E. Ralph. Chris Ralph is a composer friend I met on the Internet. The two tunes listed to the left are collaborations between he and I. The other four are Chris's compositions. His compositions range from the traditional-influenced 'Island Free' to the bizarre 'Indecision'. If you would like to hear more of Chris's compositions, His URL is on the 'Links' page.

Indecision | Island Free
A tune written by Alain Thonont of Ad Vielle Que Pourra, arranged by Bruno Tim.
Shottish | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yellow Billed Magpie | I don't know much about this tune, except that Duck Baker (of appalachian fingerpicking fame) plays it, and that Bruno Alex asked the guy who wrote this tune if we could use it and he said yes. When Alex remembers who the guy was, I'll put his name somewhere about *here*.
I'm not sure, but I think this was the national anthem of Afghanistan prior to the installation of a satrapy in Afghanistan by the former Soviet Union. One of my musician friends says that the freedom-fighters in Afghanistan would get very excited when this tune was played and fire their muskets into the air. Don't be surprised if you hear something like that here, too.

Valse a' Bouffard | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Here are two tunes written by Patrick Bouffard. Patrick Bouffard is an accomplished artist, and arguably the best Hurdy Gurdy player in France (if not the world.) He is also handsome and likeable. The bastard.
Bourree Bouffard | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This tune was written by the great Renaissance composer Attaignent. If you've ever been to the Renaissance Faire, you'll probably recognize it as one of the tunes the Queen's band plays.
Bransle de Champagne | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The 30 Year Jig |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is a great tune Bruno Alex turned me on to. It's a tune the Scandinavian band Vasen plays, though I'm not sure whether it is traditional or of more recent composition. I had no problem arranging the thing, but I can't play it to save my life... at least not yet. Bruno Jay thinks it's called 'The 30 Year Jig' because that's how long it takes to learn.
A Norteno Tune | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Norteno (spelled with a tilde, and pronounced nortaynyo) is Mexico's answer to country western music, I think. Bruno Jason unearthed this little gem. I have no idea as to whether this is a traditional tune or not, so I put it here to be on the safe side. I had a blast arranging this tune.
Spootiskerry | I am not quite sure who wrote this tune... John Cunningham maybe? I dunno. It's a fine tune though, no matter where it came from.
