Welcome to Emo Skeemo. This page is inspired by real life. It started when I was asked by Free Refills, a fanzine based out of my home town in New Jersey. Since I was one of the few emo boys that they know, David asked me to write an article about emo for the zine which, at the time, was predominately punk and/or ska. Of course, I agreed to it (why not, for free publicity). I strained for days, trying to think of where to begin writing about emo. How was I to explain emo to punk and/or ska kids who have only ever heard of, say, Sunny Day Real Estate from one of their friends? It was at that time that I gave up. I couldn't explain what is emo. I couldn't write an article explaining that all it is is feelings put to music. I didn't want to write a one-line article. So I submitted my first piece.... "memoirs."
