My aim is to complement and strengthen the present settings, adding culture in a lively, safe and perceptive way via a sculpture or installation. Through unbalancing the beholder his/her senses are opened to a new experience. By changing, adding to, or subtracting from a familiar or 'common' environment their sense of reality is disorganised, changing their perceptions. This awareness might last for just a second but can also be taken from that scene and continue for a longer time, applying it to other settings that may not directly relate to the art work. My work has an abstract feel but is essentially figurative. It keeps the intuition of the spectator active. It creates a smile, a place to dwell, to reflect and to relax or play. Each project is treated uniquely and relates to its environment and location. The design of the public artwork develops from questions such as; what is the reason for a public artwork here, how will any artwork be used and reviewed, is there a theme, what are the constraints and opportunities and preferences for use of materials, building techniques and so on. I have a strong understanding of architecture, public spaces and construction techniques. I like to work with and within architectural and landscape projects & work well in a team. I aim for the highest quality possible. |
