Tinkers Well

A floating almost submerged object in Sydney harbour. The shape of the object is that of a part of the waterfront outline. The object visualises the difference in tempo between the land and the water. The bay -water-; a peaceful place providing tranquillity and room for reflection. The land; a place of constant movement and change. The differences in tempo is showed via difference in the water, the bay -water- is visualised by an encaptured shallow area bordered by a small rim, reflecting the bay's tranquillity, the land is now visualised by the water in the bay -unrestrained- moving, hardly ever still.

Flowerbed

Finalist in a competition for a public artwork for Victoria Park Summer Flower Festival with as theme the Victorian garden, the objects would be placed on poles in the pond.

The design takes a Victorian -geometrical- flower bed pattern and lifts it in the air creating loose 'floating' elements that fall in place if seen from the right angles. The petals are made of a fine woven highly reflective metal mesh, folded and stitched into shape with a colored wire. The petals are mounted on slightly different angles and are to a degree movable.

RoundAbout -Dead places in the city-

Left over spaces formed by the movement of the traffic. Forgotten, halfheartedly given shape. My intention was to give these places an identity based on the movement of the traffic.

Cinetoscoop

Place a crash barrier with anti sun blinding boards. Build a circle of half transparent billboards inside the new border with on each board a picture of a hand in different positions.

While driving the sight is clear, but looking to the left the hand will seemingly move and spell the title of the work; RoundAbout.

Roundabout traffic signs

Asphalt the open space. "Plant" roundabout signs on an even distance of +/- 120 cm. The roundabout traffic signs form an closed/open inner circle.Depending on when you look, the inner circle will seem to be a forest of traffic signs, a second later they will line up, forming lanes that lead to....

Walking Surfaces

Three installations that via the use of 'non' material (light, clear silicon, soap bubbles) change the existing surface. The installations surprised the visitors and enticed them into returning to the spot over and over again, to experience the 'feeling' or to watch the other visitors discover and react to the installations.
