i am also in recovery (3 years in aug) and am an addiction therapist --i had a revelation while spending the 4th of july holiday in my hometown--we partied alot growing up but i firmly beleive we would have had just as much fun without the booze!!wish the younger generation could make this realization as i did at 50!!!

I've enjoyed visiting the site and I'm keen to make new contacts who are into recovery. I am a 42 year old Alcoholic, going on about 18 months old in the emotional maturity stakes I sometimes think! Been around AA 3 years and now have 9 months of active sobriety/recovery (Go figure...!) I like the stories Lory and the rest of the site. Wow, Thank-you so much for your Spike stories! I've printed them, and I'm going to ask my Husband to read them! He told me right up front, (6years ago)that he HATED to be called "STUPID" Fortunatly I'd had some Alanon before that, so I respected that. Now we're both sober in AA for the past 2 years. I discovered that I didn't like being treated like I was stupid. Life and learning continue!
