Four folk and literary tales of wonder - the age old story of trickster Compere Moonkey talking his way out of a perilous situation with Brother Crocodile; the iconic Anansi Spider finds himself on a mission impossible but, of course, outsmarts King Tiger and Queen Killer Bee; an action adventure of four young boys and the 11 o'clock train; the passing of the Amerindian village patriarch and his symbolic return. WALLS OF JERICHO (CV5)
The best of his stand-up comedy routines recorded at on-stage performances throughout the Caribbean and North America. Almost nothing is sacred when Ken's in full flight. Like all comedians, he sees the ludicrous in everyday life and what we call "we culture", from religion to education to politics, language, beauty contests, animal behaviour and, yes of course, sex. Marc Matthews & Friends - Henry Muttoo, John Agard & Ken Corsbie.
During the 1970's these four artists almost revolutionised the way we hear and see Caribbean poetry. Starting with Ken alone at HE-ONE in 1973 it quickly evolved into DEM-TWO and ALL-AH-WE as they brashly performed the best of the region's oral/aural poetry throughout the island chain. They chose the best from the best - Kamau Braithwaite, Louise Bennett, Bruce St.John, Evan Jones, Mikey Smith, DeCoteau Malik, John Agard, Kamal Singh, Martin Carter, Victor Questel, Wordsworth McAndrew and many more. SMALL DAYS (CV7)
Poet/raconteur Marc Matthews' "famous, fantastic four small-boy adventure stories". All set in his Guyana but relevant throughout the Caribbean, they tell the tall terrific tales of four 10-12 year old boys who live their lives to the fullest. They make their own bicycles from castoff parts and race them through the city streets; they catch crabs on the foreshore and cook them on open fires in the cemetery; they dare to try the impossible by jumping on the train as it passes through their village; they make a magical kite that takes them into more adventure.
