BORIS PASTERNAK
When I read Doctor Zhivago for the first of many times, it began a long journey for me through Russian history and literature. I was so entranced with the hugeness of Russia, the vastness, the many different facets of it's culture, that I switched my major in college to continue my pursuit of knowledge of things Russian.
Boris Pasternak was primarily a novelist, but within Dr. Zhivago he wrote some beautiful poetry that reflects his love of life and nature. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958 for this novel, but was not allowed to accept it by the Communist regime. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite poems, and visit the links I have included.
