This is Will the artist.

More than a specific media, he simply loves creation and communication. It's not surprising then that he's worked, over the years, in a number of visual, literary, and performing arts.

Most of Will's paintings are airbrush works. The sculptural pieces that emerge from Will's studio owe much to mechanical and engineering skills spilled over from a life-long pursuit of scientific and technical magic. His most recent visual thrust has him exploring the potential of mixed-media sculptural materials. Writings take the form of monographs, short stories, and poems while improvisational theater satisfies his hunger for creative group endeavors. How could any artist resist the poly-sensual communication that is creative cooking? Thus there are the recipes.

For Will, being an artist is about the way one perceives and engages life. He holds a special fondness for the aesthetic exploration of our seemingly surreal existence. Our world is replete with seeming inconsistencies. The universe offers a hundred little practical jokes every day. Yet somehow, all resolve in time to teach, cuddle, or nourish. What God offers is never gratuitous.

This is Will the techno-wizard.

More than a specific discipline, he simply loves technical creation and communication. It's not surprising then that he's worked, over the years, in a number of engineering, scientific, and consulting positions.

Will's engineering work has taken him into mechanics, electronics, optics, software, manufacturing methods, tool design, field service, packaging, and engineering management. His scientific ability has served him well in the fields of bio-science, robotics, chemistry, and ecology. The projects that emerge from Will's lab owe much to artistic skills spilled over from a life-long pursuit of the true and the beautiful. His most recent technical thrust has him designing the equipment that powers all your Google searches.

For Will, being a techno-wizard is about the way one perceives and engages life. He holds a special fondness for the logical exploration of our seemingly ordered existence. Our world is replete with seeming congruity. The universe reveals a hundred little truths every day. Yet somehow, most dissolve over time in an explosion of new questions. What God offers is never monotonous.

Will Whitted, a fourth generation native of southern California, was born in the city of Ventura. The year was 1947. He spent his childhood and teen-age years 20 miles away in the town of Camarillo.

The Air Force beckoned in 1967, marriage in 1968, and Will returned to Camarillo in 1971. After his return he started an environmental chamber business. In 1976 he sold this business, divorced, and moved to the San Francisco bay area.

Will spent 17 years in industrial, high-tech, R&D environments before buying a small home in Palo Alto, CA. and settling into fulfilling work with graduate students at Stanford University. Ten years later, Will is the industrial designer for Google.com and takes some pride in the part he's played in bringing information access to web browsers all over the world.
