Like many musicians today, Ani decided that she didn't feel like signing her
life over to a record label, and Righteous Records was born. The name switched
to Righteous Babe Records when Ani discovered there was a X-ian organization
that was already using Righteous Records Inc.
Unlike many of the small start up labels, Righteous Babe Records has become
more than something to write on a CD. Located in Ani's home town of Buffalo,
NY, it's not your average label. CDs are pressed locally by Eastern Standard Productions, and the lovely
RBR t-shirts are also made locally by Planet Love, using non-toxic water based
inks. Ani would rather keep things local and pay a little more to have them
made rather than contract out to the lowest bidder.
Righteous Babe Records also sells all it's merchandise directly to the public.
You can purchase CDs, tapes, t-shirts, and posters by calling Righteous Babe
Records at 1-800 - on - her - own. Phone hours are nine to five, Monday
through Friday.
Righteous Babe Records is starting to dip it's toe into the electronic world,
but very slowly. There are plans for a web page in the far flung future.
Things are too busy to go forward with the plans. There is, however, the Righteous Reader, a semi-monthly newsletter that is
sent out by the sole Righteous E-mail Babe.
