This page contains audio clips of Khmer stand-up comedy and "Ayay Chlong Chley", performed by Promine, also known as Smeanmine.
Prom Mine is a well-known comedian in Cambodia. As far as I know, he has been a stand-up comedian for over a decade. His style of performance usually involved the singing of "Ayay," as well as many jokes blended together along the way. During performance, there's usually a female singing partner or "Satrey Ku Chomreang," aiding him along the way.
What makes Promine great is his talented ability to use rhythmic words in the song that he sings. They seems to flow beautifully. The jokes that he tells are,to me, funny, eventhough some of them are somewhat indecent in nature.
There's no question that Promine is the champion of Khmer stand-up comedians. Personally, I like to refer to him as the "Khmer Jay Leno". |
