Beware! This account of an Elks club social event is based in no way on real events. With the exception of the titles of the officers and the fabulous description of the Elk Head seal, it's a complete fabrication. Outside of an occasional high school choir outing, neither author of Waylaid has attended Elks events. Indeed, events depicted here are drawn loosely from dim recollections of a free Mason funeral which one of the authors attended as a small child.
