I am sitting here waiting with baited breath... Waylaid has held my attention almost all year (with breaks for holidays and then recent y2k urgency installed episodes filling in) and am enthralled to see what happens... will all of my suspicions be fulfil ed (well, most likely never) but will Will & Jack live happily ever after????(OH WE know it will!) Will Sebastian find true love and sacrifice his twisted heart?????... (Only If MR C will get me a green Card when he finds a wife for me!!!) Vesper can go k ow that MR Right is in the Picture! Congratulations on a great read and lots of character assasination/assignation. The two of you deserve a bow!!! XXX Scott (Sydney)

I like the adventures thus far, but sneak them up to the frozen tundra of Minnesota during the winter. Put them in something crazy like the Edmunds Fitzgerald museum and then to a Vikings game. I would love to see Will in the metrodome with a bunch of guy wearing blond braids and helmuts with horns on their heads. Lastly, can you do a Secret of the Waylaid road to Riches? Like the secret of the X Files did. I introduced my friend to your stories and she feels to far behind. You could catch people up so they do not have to start at chapter 1 but somewhere around ten so that they can get up to the bi-weekly installment. Or not. I am an avid reader and I love it. Keep on Rockin'!

The answers to the contest are 1) Simon's dead wife's name is Lily and 2). Vesper's deep dark secret is that she is really Simon's MIA wife Lily (and Lily is really simon's long lost BROTHER who blames Simon for all her shortcomings and is deticated to de troying him) Lily had extensive plastic surgrey and came back as Vesper.

Vesper Shillington's real name is Martha Carlson. She was working as a waitress in a coffee shop when she heard an HR rep describe to a colleague exactly what they were looking for in a particular high level position at Waterbury Publishing. Being a smart and desparate cookie (her acting career in NY was going nowhere and she was NOT going back to small-town Idaho), she created a perfect resume, worked out the details of the persona she planned to assume, and installed several phone lines in her studio apartment so when WP called to check references there were different numbers to call and she could use her talent for voices (male and female). She might have even had an former married lover who wanted to stay married and who worked in records at a prestigious university forge the appropriate educational background. She hit resale shops in upscale locations, blowing her entire month's salary on a perfect suit, and acted/charmed her way through the interview and into a job she wasn't in any way qualified for.

In other words, the entire life she's build has been a scam. She's the ultimate con artist. I don't know if this kind of fraud warrants jail time, but if not, you could have Martha kill the original Vesper Shillington, steal her resume, clothes and briefcase, and go to the interview in her stead (after having overheard her in the coffee shop). Same result, longer jail time.

This is the coolest idea ever! I read the whole thing in an afternoon. Y'all should propose to do this for a newspaper or magazine. You'd make a fortune. It's better than the campiest soap opera, and a lot more intellectual! Keep up your fabulous work. PS Will and Laura need to visit Dixie!

At long last I am up to date on the trials and tribulations of Will and Laura! After a marathon of reading, I have just this moment finished chapter 21--I am enthralled! The plot twists are riveting! The characters, so familiar! (especially my old frie d Ken of Cahn and my girlish crush object, Tom Mizer) I feel the added burden of responsibility, and yet at the same time, delightful excitement, of deciphering the inside jokes as well as the clues in Sooner that Never, not to mention all of the side pl ts and puzzels of Waylaid itself. Three, count them, THREE dramas in one! Truly a mesmerizing and action-packed reading experience. Best wishes to both the authors for continued inspiration, intrigue and glamour befitting Vesper Roberts, I mean Shillington, herself.

I personally would love to see Will and Laura meet an Australian guy travelling the states ala Priscilla and proposing to Will (he does love him I swear, the green card is just convenient) I'll be in New York in April to discuss this development face to face if you like ;-) Anyway, again... great site, faaaabulous!

The story is wonderful. Breathless. I await the next installment. Perhaps, like the X-Files, you should have a catch-up piece since I just took two hours at work to read your story(I know I'm a bad girl!) Also, the insert about hotdish gave your story muc credibility. Bring Gertie back and perhaps she can whoop some ass!! - More later!

Best wishes..I raise the ducks butt in salute to you both. I am delighted with the latest novel-within-novel installment of "Sooner Than Never." Authentic gothic trashiness AND a sound moral lesson. And if we don't learn respect for furniture indeed, where will we all be? I want a screenplay made up from this, along the lines of "Dead Again" or "The French Lieutenant's Woman," switching back and forth between "Sooner Than Never" and "Waylaid" proper. Who wants to start suggesting casting choices for the characters?

(sigh) my cup of green tea grows cool while I read on... the days long turned cool since the inception of these curious chapters....Methinks I will need chocolate in order to buffer the emotional longing for the next edition...but the th basic food group will suffice.... Hey! Who is Mike modeled after? Maybe they should stop at one of the few remaining Stuckeys (outside of Gallup, New Mexico I think)- they could take a pause and eat pecan logs while sitting on bright orange resin benches.

I am so horrified. "[H]er father's rough love?" It is dreadfully like that wretched Horace Walpole's incestuous novels/plays.
