That charming little ditty Simon is singing is a little old fight song which is sung at all games played by the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Now, gentle reader, if you've ever run across anyone from Nebraska (they do get out from time to time), you will discover that Nebraskans are not simply "fans" of their college football team. It's more like a cult.
