Nora Helmer is perhaps the most famous door slammer in all of theatrical history. She is the macaroon-gobbling, forgery committing, scandalous and emancipated heroine of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll House.
As with most decent plays in the nineteenth century, A Doll House caused riots when it was initially produced. Nora's infamous door slam occurs at the very end of the play, when she walks out on her husband! Are you scandalized? Well, plenty of people were, and they were requested not to discuss it at dinner parties.
There is actually a musical sequel to A Doll House, which follows Nora's misadventures after she slams the door. It's called A Doll's Life.
