And now "The Romance of Helen Trent": the real-life drama of Helen Trent, who, when life mocks her, breaks her hopes, dashes her against the rocks of despair, fights back bravely, successfully, to prove what so many woman long to prove - that because a woman is thirty-five or more, romance in life need not be over, that romance can begin at thirty-five.
So opened The Romance of Helen Trent, one of the longest running radio soap operas. Helen was a glamorous and un-aging widow of 35, who constantly had to fend off a slew of ardent suitors. She was voiced by a woman named Virginia Clark from 1933-43, and by Julie Stevens from 1943-1960.
Alas, we can find no websites dedicated exclusively to poor Helen. But you can check out a fascinating old-time radio website at here.
