How the Internet Builds Bridges Across the Planet

On Wednesday, April 28, 1999, Waylaid author Chris Czajka dined at Manhattan's Jekyll and Hyde Club (known in the novel as "Transylvania Station") with Mr. Scott Wilson of Sydney, Australia, his lovely roomie Louise, and their friend Andrew of London, England.

Some of you die-hards may recall that Scott's guestbook entry way back in February spawned the creation of that ne'er-do-well Australian heartthrob, Sebastian Moffat. Scott and his pals were planning a New York trip, emails were exchanged, and the rest is Waylaid history.

For those of you who have heard horror stories about meeting people you have bumped into on the Internet, we present you with a success story. Scott, Louise, and Andrew were a blast, and Chris met up with them twice more during their visit to the Big Apple.

During his visit, Scott was the proud recipient of a one-of-a-kind Waylaid gift bag, containing the official soundtrack to the novel, bath fizzes and tea from Enfleurage, a New York Yankees baseball cap, a Waylaid placemat, an "I Love My Maltese" note pad, and four wee bottles of Jose Cuervo. We treat our readers well!!!

See what good a little technology can do?
